Pediatric Zirconia Crown
Caries seen in children at an early age can cause large amounts of material loss in the teeth. Pediatric zirconium crowns are applied to primary teeth that are broken or reduced in size due to falling or decay, especially in children aged 4 and under.
Zircon crowns are specially developed for children, highly break-resistant, white, brightly colored, pre-prepared and polished coatings. It is a treatment that is gaining popularity today, especially in pediatric patients whose front teeth have a lot of decay. It is the most aesthetic and durable treatment alternative for primary front teeth. It is preferred in primary rear molars when healthy tooth tissue is insufficient for filling. Application procedure; After the decayed tooth is cleaned and shaped under local anesthesia, a zirconia crown of the appropriate size is selected and bonded to the tooth.
Pediatric zirconium crowns have many advantages. Crowns are made in a single session and do not require any additional treatment until the teeth fall out, providing ease of use. Compared to primary tooth fillings, there is no breakage in functional movements such as biting and chewing. In addition, since the zirconium material does not allow plaque accumulation, the risk of new decay on the coated tooth is very low.
This treatment is applied more frequently in children who undergo dental treatments under sedation/general anesthesia. The reason is that general anesthesia is often needed to complete all treatments of our children who have multiple and deep cavities during infancy.
